Buying vs. Renting Your Next Trade Show Exhibit

By Skyler Cook Are you thinking about purchasing a display, but not sure about the investment? Renting may be the best option. Good justifications can be made for both renting and purchasing a trade show exhibit. This sometimes stressful decision depends on the nature of your trade show program, marketing goals, and budget. Renting can be a wise decision when your company has decided to start exhibiting at trade shows, your company is new and wants to make an initial big splash with a smaller budget, or your trade show schedule has overlapping shows and you need a second display. When first developing a trade show program to drive, supplement, or diversify your marketing mix, it can be difficult to determine the best exhibit for your needs. Making a large financial commitment on an exhibit under these circumstances can be a daunting task. Analyzing your company’s needs and choosing the right booth is integral to a successful trade show. It can be a good idea to rent rather than purchase a display even after you have done your research and decided on the best exhibit to fit your needs. This offers you an opportunity to “test drive” your exhibit. This renting strategy can also be used anytime you need to purchase a new exhibit, even if you have a trade show program already established. Trade shows are huge undertakings, and when launching a start-up company with new products, trade shows are almost always in the marketing mix. Yet an exhibit, as integral as it is to a trade show, is one of the last things a marketing manager is thinking about when trying to launch a new companys concept, service, or product at an industry trade show. All the tasks that go into a show exhibit transportation, drayage, installation and dismantling can be major headaches when you have leads and clients to cater to, not to mention promotional materials and product samples. Renting often relieves this burden since most display rental companies handle the installation and dismantling, shipping and drayage of the rental display, which frees up your time to handle more important things. Renting a booth may be a great idea when purchasing an exhibit is not an option. This greatly reduces the initial expenditure and allows you to maintain the visual presence necessary to generate leads at a show. If you only attend one show per year, it may be more beneficial to rent a display and purchase graphics, however if your organization has a more rigorous convention schedule, it will be more economical to purchase an exhibit. Typically, after about four shows the rental booth costs would have covered the purchase of a new exhibit. The best of both rental and purchase worlds is when the rental display company offers a rebate plan similar to OneSource Exhibits’ Rental Rebate Program, which allows 100 percent of the rental fee to be applied toward the purchase price of a similar display if purchased within 90 days of the rental. This gives your company the flexibility to determine which type of display will work best for your trade show program prior to buying the exhibit. The Annual Pond Cleanout

By Dan Eskelson Much of the following advice will pertain to *all* ponds, but is based on my experience with the natural ecosystem of our water garden. The annual cleanout is the only “major” pond maintenance chore required by our natural water garden environment. Considering the many hours of enjoyment our pond and waterfall provide throughout the year, these four or five hours of easy paced work are well worth my time and effort. The cleanout should be performed before the water temperature gets above 55 deg. F - the temperature at which the beneficial bacteria begin to colonize. You don’t want to disrupt the natural balance. Using a sump pump or the pond pump surrounded by protective screen (to restrict the fish), pump out much of the water -use as long a pipe as possible and direct the water to lawns, shrubs or other areas that would benefit from a nutrient-rich bath. Before the pond level has lowered to six inches or so, fill two or three “holding tanks” (I used dish washing tubs) with the existing pond water and carefully net your fish into them. The fish are weak after a long winter, so the less stress they endure, the better - they *may* try to jump out of the holding tanks, so cover with a piece of plywood or other object. Limit the time in the holding tank to just a few hours. After removing almost all of the water, spray down the rocks with a garden hose and spray nozzle - it’s not necessary, nor advisable, to remove *all* the algae - leaving some will be beneficial to the ecosystem. Start washing from the top down, and run the pump to remove the dirty water. Washing the rock should take only a half hour or so. Remove the filter media and lava rock from the skimmer and biofalls, and hose it thoroughly…again about a half hour’s work. Clean out the skimmer box and any remaining debris at the bottom of the pond. Though much is made of the dreaded “pond scum”, with the natural ecosystem of our ponds, there is very little of this to deal with. I remove about a pint after the final rinsing. Now hook up your pump, reinstall the filter media and start filling your pond. If you have city tap water, you will need to add dechlorinator according to directions…fish will not survive in chlorinated water. Finally, float your holding tanks and fish in the new pond water for 30 minutes to acclimate them to the temperature change. Then free your fish into the pond. That’s it - not a bad job at all. This is a very minor price to pay for what we consider to be the best improvement we’ve ever made to our outdoor environment. The Sales vs Education Marketing Approach

By Cara Lumen As you begin to formulate and execute your individualized marketing plan, it becomes important to acknowledge and identify the two styles of marketingSales and Education. I found that personally I was very turned off by what felt to me like hard sell, yellow-boxed, bonus laded, you-cant-live-without-it sales pages while other people responded well to them. I also know they make money. However, I knew that was not my personal style and I wasnt certain if that were the only way, that I could do it. I was attracted to a more gentle approach. Fortunately, a friend pointed out that there were two distinct approaches to marketing. Once was sales the other was education. Both are valued, both are successful. It helps to know which one you are. In any team-building or coaching environment where people are learning to market their own business, we have to honor both approaches. Training for success must allow for both types of presentation. As I gather my MLM team, my job is to help each person be successful. I offer a 1:1 coaching session to every new business builder to identify their marketing style so we can tailor their marketing approach to match their values and intention. Many of my Internet Marketing Coaching clients are coaches in service to others. My job becomes to help them incorporate the known sales technique of using benefit-laden copy that appeals to the emotion, with their core purpose, which is education and attraction. Knowing that I am an educator takes the selling out of my contact with others. I still go through discover steps. I still look for their need. I still share my solution and I still close with a request for action, but Im more comfortable feeling that I am simply sharing enough information for them to make an informed choice. I am less attached to the outcome. It has made a huge difference in my ability to approach people verbally and it reflects in the copy I use on my sales pages. Give some thought to the style that appeals to you. Are you a sales person? Are you an educator? Look for sales copy that you like and add it to your Swipe File. Include some you dont like so you can understand why it doesnt appeal to you. Be true to your values. You will attract clients and customers to you through the vibration of your being-ness. Dont go against that grain. Dont try to be something you are not. Reach out from your heart and let people know what you can do for them and show them how much you love doing it. Whether you choose the sales approach or the education approach, it will reflect who you are and draw the perfect people to you. How To Get Banks To Say Yes Over And Over Again Each Time You Ask Them For Money

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ugo_Okonkwo]Ugo Okonkwo For Gods Sake! Look at them all! Everyone is busy running around like a headless chicken trying to get-rich-quick. Make a fast buck from the latest craze and then move on to the next big thing. Heres a tip from me for free. Find one thing that works and STICK TO IT. The simplest and easiest is probably real estate. If youre serious about making big money and you truly want to retire sooner rather than later then start here. Save the pennies and re-invest. In other articles, I gave sure-fire tips on how to get started the easy way. I will now talk about how to continue growing. How to continue building your empire once youve started. The secret to winning against any financial lending institution (as is the secret to winning any battle) is to know your enemy. Know this: banks want to lend you money. In fact, they will bend over backwards to lend you money. But (important) only if they think that you are a safe bet. They will always do a credit check on you. If you fail this check, youve no hope of getting the best possible deal from the lender. Expect to be offered extortionate interest rates and to be treated with no mercy should you even think of defaulting on half a re-payment. In case you dont know, any money that you have ever borrowed, e.g., a credit card, store cards, mortgages, car loans etc are kept securely on record. This is your credit file and the information is collected and updated very, very regularly whether you like it or not. If you absconded four years ago and did not settle that 12.50 parking ticket, it will be on your credit file. The credit check will reveal all. So, put the odds in your favour. Get a copy of your credit report, read it and correct any errors or mistakes by contacting the CRA (Credit Reference Agency) involved. Be up-to-date with all bill payments. Lenders do not like to see maxed-out credit cards on you credit report so leave a third of the limit available to spend. After youve perfected your credit report. Fill in those forms and start applying for mortgages and watch lenders fall over themselves to be of service to you. What To Do with All Those Bean Bag Babies

By Ron Maier Jr. Is your child wild about Bean Bag Babies? Do you find them all over the house and dont know what to do with all of them? Well, here is a great activity that your kids will love, and that can solve the Bean Bag Baby piles in the house. Organizing and displaying these little guys can be a real pain, but a Bean Bag Baby Holder can make all the difference. Here is what you will need to get started: 18×36 inch piece of felt (or however long you want the holder to be) One Plastic clothes hanger Craft glue or a glue gun Fabric scraps in various colors Heavy books or other flat weights Glitter, buttons, lace, etc. for decoration This is so simple that you will want to get your kids involved. Most kids love to make houses, clothes, and holders for their toys, so this holder for their Bean Bag Babies will be great fun. To begin, spread the 18×36 inch piece of felt on a flat surface such as your kitchen table, and then set the plastic hanger at one end of the felt. The hook of the hanger should hang off one of the 18 sides so that the rest of the hanger is resting on the felt. Next, you or your child can spread glue on both of the felt corners that lay on either side of the hangers hook (it is not advisable to allow our children to use a hot glue gun until they are of an age that is conscious of the heat produced by the gun). Make sure to spread the glue all along the sides of these corners until you reach where the hanger rests on the felt. Now take the corners and fold them over the shoulders of the hanger so that they touch back to the felt. Press hard on the felt to adhere the glue and place heavy books over the felt to allow the glue to dry. Before you continue, make sure the glue is completely dry. The next part of making your holder is to cut out however pieces of fabric for the number of pockets you want the holder to have. Each should be at least 5-6 inches squared in order to fit a Bean Bag Baby inside. Turn the felt over so the glued corners are now on the bottom and you only see the hook of the hanger coming out the top of the felt. Arrange each piece of fabric on the felt in a pattern that suites you or your child. Spread glue along the sides and bottom of the back of each piece of fabric and press them to the desired place on the felt. Again, take heavy books or some other weight and place them on top of the pockets to allow for drying. When everything is dry, it is time to decorate. This is the point in the project when the kid should really take over to make the project his or her own. Let them use glitter, beads, buttons, string, paint, or whatever you wish to create a decorative masterpiece. When they are all done, each Bean Bag Baby will have a pocket to live in, and the hanger can hang in the closet or anywhere in the room for display. What a creative way to show off their collection! Garden Sculpture

By Kristy Annely In the ancient world, the most common garden forms were the household gardens of nobles and the holy gardens associated with a place of worship. Sculpture of divines and kings were positioned in the compounds of places of worship. The Romans transported a large number of statues to Italy and placed them in gardens for decorative purposes. As the Roman Empire underwent a transformation and initiated Christian beliefs, these statues were regarded as non-religious, and removed. However, during the renaissance, these same statues were exhumed and placed once again in gardens. Sculpture became a acknowledged as art and gardens have always been a favored setting for exhibiting outdoor works of art. Sculptures, whether in the shape of birdbaths or metal art forms are noticeable essentials to enhance a gardens ambience. Mounting an appealing sculpture at waist or eye level can transform a garden into an exhilarating place. Including a garden sculpture helps set the mood or theme of a garden. Even a modest garden is a work of art and installing a garden sculpture is a popular way to give a small garden, a bit of aura and mystery. A sculpture in a sunlit open space achieves the status of an exalted spot. It is delightful to find a large garden sculpture serving as the central point or to walk down a garden path and chance upon an unanticipated sculpture placed in a small recess. Many homeowners, while designing their homes, seek classically designed sculptures to be placed in their gardens. While selecting a sculpture for a garden, a buyer must bear in mind that the artpiece should be able to withstand natures ravages during different seasons. The best choice of material for a sculpture with this factor in mind, are bronze and marble. When sculptures are placed in the open, they should be of a material that is durable and bronze fits in with this need. Some art lovers choose a fairly large sculpture to make it the central piece of attraction in the garden. They place the sculpture in a prominent place so it will attract the attention of every visitor to the garden. While designing a beautiful garden and the sculpture to go with it, one may enlist the services of specialized garden decorators. Most people who are not connoisseurs of art are inexperienced when it comes to selecting sculptures. A garden-decoration agency helps buyers pick a fine piece of art to match their gardens and at the right price range. Sculptures provides detailed information on Sculpture, Garden Sculpture, Bronze Sculpture, Metal Sculpture and more. Sculptures is affiliated with Interior Painting. Are Energy Vampires Hurting Your Marriage?

By Nancy Wasson Do you have individuals in your life who suck the life right out of you or your spouse? While some people make you feel better after contact with them, others leave you feeling drained and exhausted. How do you know if youve encountered an energy vampire? According to Judith Orloff, M.D., author of Positive Energy, The tip-off is that even after a brief contact you leave feeling worse, but he or she seems more alive. This is a different experience than just having bad chemistry with another person and not enjoying the interaction. When an energy vampire is present, youll feel depleted of energy and vitality afterwards. The ideas Dr. Orloff presents about energy vampires intrigue me, and I believe they have important implications for relationships. As anyone who is striving to have a quality marriage knows, good relationships take lots of time, effort, and energy. In a busy lifestyle, theres precious little energy that can be wasted without coming up short in some area of your life. For example, if you are more tired than usual, you may have difficulty in mustering the energy to exercise or prepare a healthy dinner. Eventually, not taking care of yourself in a nurturing way will show up in your marriage. Maybe youll be more stressed and less patient as a result. Likewise, if youre exhausted from an encounter with an energy vampire friend who depletes your energy, you wont have as much pep and enthusiasm to put into enjoying quality time with your partner. Marriages are impacted by outside factors such as needs and requests of family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and acquaintances. Theres not time or energy to try to meet all of everyone elses expectations or wants. Daily life offers the challenge of setting priorities and boundaries so that you can focus on whats most important to you. And for many people, their marriage and relationship with their spouse and children is whats most important. Anyone who drains you or your spouses vitality and makes you feel worse after talking or being with them is someone who has the potential to negatively affect the energy available in your marriage. Its not a casual, insignificant thing for a spouse to have an energy vampire friend who is a large part of his or her life. If energy is being consistently drained from you or your spouse, your relationship will suffer. Dr. Orloff describes nine types of energy vampires. I want to focus on five of those. See if you recognize anyone you know in the following descriptions. Energy Vampire #1 is the Sob Sister. This person is a whiner, a perpetual victim, who loves a captive audience and can talk for hours about her problems. If you offer a solution, she gives a Yes, but answer that gives an excuse for why your solution wont work in her case. Dr. Orloff says, You might find yourself listening for hours, hearing the same complaints over and over. She ends up renewed. Youre exhausted. Energy Vampire #2 is the Blamer. This person makes you feel guilty, berates you, and casts negativity into your energy field. Hes more overtly angry than the Sob Sister, and he uses accusation to drain you. Dr. Orloff says, You walk away feeling knifed, that you havent lived up to expectations, are somehow defective. One of the statements a Blamer might make is If it werent for you, we wouldnt be in this mess or Its your fault that Im on drugs. It takes agility and planning to deflect a blamers tactics. Energy Vampire #3 is the Drama Queen. This person has a real flair for exaggeration, for going from crisis to crisis, and for being energized by chaos. One of her characteristic opening statements is some variation of Oh my God, youll never guess what happened! Dr. Orloff says, The roller-coaster antics of a drama queen put you on overload and wipe you out. Her in-your-face intensity can make you feel burned out in no time flat. Energy Vampire #4 is the Constant Talker or Joke-teller. This person always demands center stage and has absolutely no interest in what youre feeling. At first, he (or she) might seem entertaining, but you soon begin to fade after non-stop stories, jokes, and comments and the incessant self-focus. According to Dr. Orloff, these energy vampires grind our energy field down like a relentless yippy chihuahua who badly needs a walk. Its impossible to sneak a word in edge-wise, and they love to trap you in conversation where its hard to break away. Energy Vampire #5 is the Fixer-Upper. There are two types. Dr. Orloff writes that the first type of fixer-upper makes you into her therapist. At all hours she calls desperate to have you fix her problems, unlike the Sob Sister who simply complains. She sucks you in because you care, want to lessen her pain, and be a good friend. The second type of fixer-upper is, according to Dr. Orloff, someone who you perceive needs an overhaul, and you take him on as a project. What you dont realize is that he isnt really interested in changing. You may even put your life on hold to help him realize his potential, but in spite of all your efforts, it never happens. So what can you do if your marriage is being harmed by an energy vampire? Dr. Orloffs book has a number of invaluable recommendations for how to combat energy vampires and preserve your individual vitality. The following are my recommendations for protecting your marital relationship: 1. Do an energy assessment of who energizes you and who drains you in your life. Who makes you feel better after a conversation and who leaves you feeling worse off? Who makes unreasonable demands on your time and reduces the time and energy you have to give to your spouse and children? 2. Develop strategies to lessen your contact with the energy vampires in your life. If you cant end all contact, then brainstorm about creative ways to minimize your exposure to these people and set boundaries about how much time youll invest. For example, if your long-time friend is a Sob Sister, decide how long youll listen before ending the conversation. 3. Initiate a conversation with your mate about how youve been evaluating where youre currently spending your time and energy because you value your marriage and want to have a quality relationship. Say that you know that means you need to be careful not to waste valuable time or energy in ways that arent satisfying or beneficial. Your sharing of what youre doing may encourage her (or him) to do the same. 4. If you are concerned because you see your spouses time and energy being depleted by energy vampires in his (or her) life, and he doesnt seem to realize it or isnt willing to address the issue, you might suggest doing some sessions with a marriage counselor. Say that youre finding some feelings building up that you want to discuss with your spouse in a counseling session so they wont cause problems in the future. Call it relationship housecleaning and keep the emphasis on yourself as the one needing help in handling some things. That will make it more likely that your spouse will be willing to go to counseling with you. 5. If you find that youre having difficulty in handling the energy vampires in your life, consider doing some individual counseling sessions to examine why youre reluctant to draw boundaries, to say no, or to forfeit your role as perennial nice guy. You may need to look at issues such as why youre trying so hard to fix someone else and ignoring your own needs or why youre listening to a whiner for hours on the phone when you really want to be relaxing and enjoying your evening. Ultimately, its up to you to set your priorities and then take the appropriate action to keep focused on your life goals and values. And that means protecting yourself from energy vampires so that your marriage can have the energy it needs to thrive. Nancy J. Three Tips for Arthritis Pain Relief

By Karri Koivula Massage not the areas that hurt Some experts think that arthritic conditions or pain conditions in general aggravate and flare up trigger points, and that one can get additional relief to arthritis symptoms trough self massage. The idea is not to massage the area where it hurts, but to find pressure tender areas in your muscles near the actual pain area, and massage them instead. For example, if your arthritis pain is in your knee joint, then you would find and massage tender points from your quadriceps muscles. Exercises -lose it or use it Not moving will only make matters worse in the long run, its important to maintain as active lifestyle as possible. Besides maintaining functionality, exercise can work as a natural pain medicine, because it helps to release endorphins, bodys natural pain killers. High Risk Personal Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_C_Clark]Steve C Clark Sometimes, simply everything goes wrong. You may be having a bad credit history and not have anything to be placed as a collateral to secure a loan for you. In the vocabulary of the lenders, this situation is said to be a high risk situation and if you require a personal loan in such a situation, you are said to require a high risk personal loan. Though the terms which you will be able to bargain for a loan in such a state might be tough and steep, possibly going for a loan and getting out of such a situation at slightly higher rates is really worth it. Credit history is not always under the control of an individual. It might be bad just because the individual has no history of borrowing and it might also be bad because the only loan you took, you were not regular about repaying. Also, requirements may be sudden and urgent. They may just appear whether you have something or not to be placed as the collateral. When you look at the options to borrow in such a situation, they may appear to charge a slightly higher rate of interest than if you had come with the security of a collateral. It is also slightly justifiable on the part of the lender to ask for a slightly higher rate because the money lent is actually under a high risk and the borrower given his fragile financial standing, in an unfortunate situation may not be able to repay it. Stiff competition in the lending industry have brought these rates lower and affordable though. It is possible to obtain a high risk loan even if you do not have a home, any other collateral or a good credit history. It is normally worthwhile to go for these loans since they would bail you out of a financial emergency and bring you back on your feet. If you plan your finances well, you may also be able to pay this back in time and do wonders to your financial health. Another reason why you should go for such a loan is that if you are able to pay it back in time and be regular with the repayments, your credit history will dramatically improve. The next time you are in some requirement and you go shopping for a loan, it would be easy for you to obtain it at lower rates. It is a suggestion worth considering since no one can claim that one would never be in a financial situation to require a loan. If you come out of it this time and improve your credentials, it will be good for you in all further situations to come. The point to note here is that you must plan your finances such that you do not miss on repayments this time around. A further spoil in the credit ratings would mean that obtaining any future loan would be difficult for you. Also, such loans are available for slightly lower amounts and repayment periods than the secured loans would have been the exact amount and period depend on your job or your repayment ability otherwise. The Truth About Relationships

By Mia LeCron Dating and marriage is different than it was twenty years ago. In todays society, more than 50% of all marriages fail for one reason or another. Just thinking about that makes commitment seem scary. It seems that when relationships are faced with challenges, people quit trying. Dating is more like a marathon, trying to date as many people as possible, instead of taking time to get to know someone at a deeper level. For married couples, divorce is not biased. Whether married for thirty years or eight months, the outcome can be the same. The fact is that relationships, whether dating or married, are hard. Things do not always go perfectly, fighting does occur, and it takes a 100% commitment from both parties to make it a success. Often when people break off a relationship, they feel as though something is missing. The spark has gone, leaving one or both people feeling inadequate and unfulfilled. However, even though the odds are not very good, healthy, and long-lasting relationships are definitely possible and proven by many people. Look at Paul Newman and Joanne Woodard, Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman, or Nancy and Ronald Regan. What secrets do they possess? The answer is that they all work hard at their relationship. They made a decision of choosing to love their mate rather than relying on the warm and fuzzy feelings, which everyone knows will fade. By making love a choice you are making a decision that even in the bad times, you stick it out. Think of it like choosing a car. You pick out the make, model, year, color, and features that you believe are best for you. After driving your car for a couple of months, you realize that perhaps you should have purchased a larger car, or that maybe the leather seats would have been better, or on hot sunny days, the sunroof would have been nice. However, it is now too late so you choose to keep your car and make it work. It is the same for marriage.
