Thousand Names of God The Secrets of Vishnu Sahasranama Part II

By Santhanam Nagarajan There is an interesting incident in the life of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Once Sai Baba had heart disease. He used to cure all the diseases of the devotees. But now he himself was suffering. Who could cure him? Sai Baba himself narrated as to how his heart disease was cured. Baba: I had heart disease. I kept Vishnu Sahasranama close to my chest. Hari (meaning Lord Vishnu) descended from it. I was cured. (Incident no 198: Sri Sai Babas Charters and Sayings by Sri B V Narasimhaswami) Such is the power of Vishnu Sahasranama. It can cure all the diseases. It has miraculous powers. One can get wealth, health according to his/her wish and needs. Though the Lord has innumerable names, the Vishnu Sahasranama which contains a thousand selected names of the Supreme Being, is in the nature of a hymn which can be chanted by all. There is a great secret in it. The sequence of the names of the Vishnu in the verses, in Anushtubh metre has a rationale. Twenty-four names of Lord Vishnu had been incorporated in the three opening verses of the Vishnu Sahasranama. These twenty-four names denote the 24 syllabled Gayatri mantra, each syllable corresponding to a particular name. The name Gayatri connotes that it protects those who chant it properly and regularly. Recitation of Gayatri mantra according to the prescribed method confers all-round prosperity not only on the individual but also on the entire world. (It is recommended here to the readers to read the articles The power of Gayatri Mantra Part I and The Power of Gayatri Mantra Part II Power of each syllable written by this author published in ezinearticles.com earlier in order to learn the secret power of Gayatri mantra) The names Sridah (name 605), Srisah (name 606), Srinivasah (name 607), Srinidhi (name 608) Srivibhavanah (name 609) Sridhara (name 610) Srikarah (name 611) confer abundant wealth to the chanter. Sri Adi Sankaracharya, in his commentary has given the meanings of these names as Follows: Sridah: The Bestower of wealth on His devotees Srisah: The Lord of wealth Srinivasah: Abiding always in the well endowed; He resides where Sri (Lakshmi meaning the Goddess of wealth) resides. Srinidhi: The Treasure house of Sri. In Him, who is all powerful, all the energies abide. Sri is protected like a treasure. Srivibhavanah: The Distributor of wealth to all beings, variously, according to their deserts. Sridhara: he bears on His chest Lakshmi, the mother of all He supports the prosperity of devotees. Srikarah: The Conferrer of Sri on devotees who remember, praise, and worship Him. The following results are promised to one who is chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama: Success in acquiring great fame, a position of eminence, enduring prosperity, salvation. The great seers and sages have strongly recommended reciting the Vishnu Sahasranama daily. S. Nagarajan is a vehicle body engineer by profession. Mangosteen Teabags

By Kevin Stith Mangosteen, one of the most popular fruits in Asia, is very well regarded as a luscious and mouthwatering fruit. Aside from being valued for its flavor, its thick outer layer (or rind) is also used as medicine for preventing and curing certain body disorders. Mangosteen can be more than just fresh fruit served for dessert. This versatile fruit can be also made into jam, juice, extract, and food supplements. These mangosteen products are surprisingly a popular commodity to be purchased in the Internet. Since this tropical fruit is not available in most western countries, people resort to ordering these products online. Now, it seems that tea has been added to the list of products the mangosteen could be turned into. Dr. Alfredo Villarico, a doctor of medicine and a mangosteen farmer in North Cotobato in the Philippines, launched a new formulated mangosteen product–the mangosteen tea. This natural tea has no additives and is preservative-free. Dr. Villarico explained that it is the mangosteen leaves and not the fruit that are made into tea. He has done researches for years about how the Manobos, the indigenous people of the Mount Apo foothills in Davao, would boil mangosteen leaves to cure themselves from different illnesses. His studies. observations, and experiments has led him to develop the all-natural mangosteen tea. Dr. Villarico states that his mangosteen tea does not claim any healing or therapeutic effect on the body. However, he did emphasize that his mangosteen product is very rich in Xanthones, the natural chemical compounds that function as great antioxidants. Antioxidants are very beneficial to the body. The human body has many free radicals roaming inside it. These are unstable cells that cause damage in the human body. They can be acquired through cigarette smoking and radiation. Antioxidants help to prevent the damage caused by these free radicals and to restore the body’s natural health. So even if the therapeutic effects of the mangosteen tea are yet to be proven, you can still be assured that drinking it will do wonders for your body since it contains antioxidants. These mangosteen teabags are exclusively manufactured and distributed by a homegrown corporation in the Philippines. Hopefully, they will be available in the international market soon. Mangosteen provides detailed information on Mangosteen, Mangosteen Juice, Mangosteen Fruit, Mangosteen Pills and more. Mangosteen is affiliated with Noni Fruit Juice. Go for Higher Education on Bad Credit Unsecured Student Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor Students have no source of own income and hence need to borrow for each of their expenses such as tuition fee, hostel fee, food, books, travel etc. Bad credit unsecured student loan is mostly required for college education expenses. It is easier to avail bad credit unsecured student loan than it is thought to be. It must be noted that one can go for a bad credit student loan only when the student has completed his education and has started earning. Now to qualify for the bad credit student loan a student is required to earn a minimum of 10000 to 15000. But the earning does not make the loan taking easy as lenders still think that students are not in regular employment and plus there is this bad credit of the student which is a deterrent. Despite some hurdles posed by the lenders, they offer bad credit unsecured student loan to the students. These students do not offer any security of the borrowed amount to the lender, hence, to cover the risks involved the lender charge higher interest on the loan. The loan amount will depend on how much the student is earning which indicates the repayment capability of the student. Students do not have to worry about repayment duration of the loan much as normally lenders give ample time which is when the student actually starts earning through regular employment Parents of student can be of great help. If parents possess better credit than the student he can opt for a PLUS loan which is given to parents and the amount can be utilized by the student. One disadvantage of bad credit unsecured student loan is that it comes with higher interest rate. The lender has to cover for the high risk involved in the loan offer which prompts him to charge higher interest rate. The higher interest rate should not worry students because many of these loans defer payment till they finish college and start on a regular job. You can source the loan from credit card companies and banks but both of them will charge very high interest rate and there are in-built dangers also. One option is that you search for the lender on internet and see if terms-conditions suit you and apply to the lender. Bad credit student loan enables you in taking finance for higher studies even when you are not regularly employed. The loan besides meeting educational expenses goes a long way in improving credit score also. How To Catch A Trout

By Trevor Kugler In this article I’m going to discuss how to catch a trout. There are four major species of trout that I’m going to be referring to when I use the term ‘trout’. Those species would include rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. Basically, any trout that swims in the various rivers and streams of North America. Most of the species can be found in lakes as well, although all of these trout seem to prefer rivers, if given a choice. Just to be clear, when I use the term ‘trout’ in this article, I’m not referring to lake trout or sea trout, but the previously mentioned trout. Catching a trout is fairly easy. As with many species of fish, the small ones aren’t that tough to catch. The challenge comes with catching large trout. For the purposes of this article, anything over twenty inches will be considered ‘large’. The easiest way to just catch a trout is to employ a good old American worm. Really, what could be more American than fishing with a worm? In any case, the easiest way to catch a trout is to use a small hook, and bait that hook with a worm. To increase your catch rates, try using a set of gang hooks. Gang hooks present a worm in an amazingly natural way. If live bait just doesn’t do it for you, the best way to catch a trout is with a small spinner or spoon. If you’re simply trying to catch a trout, any trout, I wouldn’t suggest anything larger that ounce. I personally like darker colors when it comes to spinners and gold when it comes to spoons, when fishing for trout. There are literally enough color choices to choke a horse, so experimentation with colors will be your best bet. The colors of your spinners and spoons really comes down to personal preference as much as anything else when it comes to trout. A good rule of thumb is to remember that it’s always a good idea to emulate the fish’s natural prey as closely as possible. Another good rule of thumb when attempting to catch a trout is to use light line. Trout, as a general rule, live in cold clear water. In clear water your fishing line can become visible to the trout underwater if it’s too heavy. I personally use 4lb. test monofilament, and don’t suggest using anything over 6lb. test for trout fishing. I see a lot of fishing line that gets left along the banks of various trout rivers and many times this excess line is much heavier than six pound test. This is a big mistake when trout fishing. That should provide any angler with enough information to go out and catch a trout. Before you think that large trout can’t be caught with gear as ’small’ as I’ve been mentioning, think again. I regularly catch large trout using exactly the size gear that I’ve been referring to in this article. I also never use gang hooks tied with any hooks other than size 10 (which if you don’t know, is a small hook). Now it’s time to take this information and get out there and catch a trout or two. 8 Tips To Help You Get That Raise

By Lee Dobbins Nobody likes going in to ask the boss for a raise, but everyone likes getting one! Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to get the boss to hike your pay is to go in and ask. This can be a bit stressful and awkward, but heres 8 tips you can use to make asking easier and better your chances of getting that well deserved pay increase. 1. Be Prepared. You cant just burst into your bosses office demanding a raise - you need a plan of action. List all the projects youve completed since your last pay increase. Make note of how successful they have been and how theyve increased productivity or saved the company money. If youve accrued any new job skills make a list of those too. Also write down any special skills or knowledge you bring to the job. Find out what the typical raise or salary is for someone in your position. Go in ready with the facts and it will be hard for your boss to argue with you! 2. Always ask for more than you really want. Its the bosses first instinct to negotiate and he or she will inevitable try to talk you down. By asking for a bit more than what you really want then you might end up getting what you really wanted in the first place! If they say yes at your first price then youve got a bonus! 3. Anticipate to negotiate. Maybe three other people got raises this week or your coming is going through a slow down. It may not be feasible to grant your wish for a raise so you need to be flexible on this and have your alternate strategy prepare ahead of time. You may want to try other ways of getting a raise too, such as additional vacation time, employee perks or more time off. All of these can be just as good (if not better!) than an actual amount of money. 4. Select your time wisely. Avoid choosing a Monday or Friday because thats typically when bosses are at their busiest. According to studies, people are most receptive after lunch on Tuesday or Wednesday. At any rate, try to select a time when your boss will have a few spare minutes and wont be distracted with other things. If youre afraid of being interrupted during your request, ask to speak to your supervisor for a few minutes after hours. 5. Dont get upset of yell if your boss objects to your raise at first. After all, you are being paid to do a certain job, and now youre asking for more money to do the same job. Be professional and polite at all times, and listen more than demand. Chances are, if your supervisor doesnt award you a raise, they might hint at what else could be done to earn it. If they dont, dont be afraid to ask what steps would be necessary to prove yourself. 6. Dont threaten to quite if you dont get what you want. He may just call your bluff and let you go! 7. Be confident and get straight to the point. No beating around the bush. Just come right out and state your facts and reasons you think you deserve a raise. If you have Thank You notes from customers or letters from the company praising you for a job well done, bring those to your meeting as well, as theyll help to cement your request and remind your supervisor of your role within the company and its progress. 8. Dont compare yourself to coworkers or talk about them negatively. This will only make you look bad in the bosses eyes. Now, the next time you think you deserve a raise you can gather your facts and go in there confidently and professionally and ask for what you deserve. Lee Dobbins write on many topics. Tips For Removing Grease From Kitchen Cabinets

By Guido Stiehle Every time we cook our favorite foods, we’re unwittingly creating build-up on our cabinets that can destroy the natural beauty of the wood. That nasty film leaves cabinets looking old and dirty, as well as making them feel sticky and unpleasant. If you’re unsure of how much damage your cabinets have gotten, unscrew one of the hinges or a handle and look at the color of the wood underneath. That will give you a good indication of how much discoloration you’re dealing with, and also let you know the color that you should be able to achieve with a good cleaning. Preventing Build-Up If you’re religious about running your exhaust fan over your stove as you cook, you can help cut down on some of the airborne grease. However, no matter how careful you are, that film is going to show up on your cabinets - unless you eat take-out every night! The most important thing is to give your cabinets a good wiping down every other month or so. This will keep the build-up manageable, and save your scrubbing arm some work. Best Cleaning Products Without buying special products, you should be able to eliminate that greasy build-up. To start, foam two tablespoons of dish soap in two cups of water. Use clean rags or paper towels to rub the suds onto the cabinets. Make sure to follow the grain of the wood. Then rinse with a damp sponge and rub down with a dry dish towel. The grease fighters in the dish soap will cut that greasy residue easily. There are also plenty of commercial products that can work wonders on greasy cabinets. Try Orange Glo, Greased Lightning, or Simple Green. Just follow the directions on the products. If you’d rather go all natural, mix equal parts vinegar and water and rub on with a damp sponge. With any of these techniques, you may have to repeat a few times, depending on how dirty your cabinets are. What About Painted Cabinets? Painted cabinets are no exception - they gather just as much buildup as natural wood. You can use the dish soap method, or use a multi-purpose spray cleaner like 409 or Fantastik. Make sure that if you’re planning on repainting, you give your cabinets a very thorough cleaning, otherwise the fresh coat of paint may have trouble sticking. Cleaning your cabinets can seem like a daunting chore, so if you’re pressed for time, do three cabinets a day until they’re all done. Remember that once you get them really clean, you should then clean them every other month so they won’t have time to build up much residue. Staying on top of the chore can make it much easier to achieve the stunning results you desire. You can read more home cleaning tips and also submit questions on our website. Understanding Cosmetic Surgery Procedure And Costs

By Michelle Bery Cosmetic surgery has become all the rage of a generation; enticing patients with its promise of prolonged youth and beauty. For many, such surgery means an end to a lifetime of low self-esteem and unrealized dreams of looking a certain way. For others, cosmetic surgery means an opportunity to turn back the clock and revisit a time when unwrinkled skin and prominent cheekbones told of our youth. No matter what our reasons for embarking on cosmetic surgery, one thing is clear; it is imperative that we understand the cosmetic surgery procedure and costs prior to surgery. An educated patient is an empowered patient; it is essential that any elective surgery be researched thoroughly. Part of learning about the cosmetic surgery procedure and costs is finding out about the surgeon you have chosen to perform your surgery. Never choose a cosmetic surgeon based solely on price. An inexpensive surgery will mean nothing if you have a lifetime of scarring or health problems after having been exposed to a disreputable doctor. Cosmetic surgery procedure and costs do not necessarily go hand in hand. Research the credentials of any surgeon you are considering; speak with other patients who have undergone cosmetic surgery with this particular doctor; in short, do your homework. After finding the most reputable, experienced, and skilled surgeon to perform your surgery, the next step in learning about cosmetic surgery procedures and costs is educating yourself on what to expect. Speak with your surgeon as well as other patients who have been through the particular cosmetic surgery you have elected to make sure you understand what you will experience before, during, and after your cosmetic surgery. Educate yourself on the healing process and those things you can do to ensure a fast and healthy recovery. Additionally, be sure you understand the risks associated with cosmetic surgery and learn what to look for to protect yourself from infection while recovering. One of the things most people are concerned with when exploring cosmetic surgery procedures and costs is the price associated with cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery can be expensive and, because it is an elective surgery, is often not covered by insurance carriers. Be sure to check with your health insurance company to determine if any or part of your cosmetic surgery is approved for coverage. Do not let price stand in the way of having the best surgeon you can find perform your cosmetic surgery. There are financing options available through financial institutions and often through the surgeons office itself that can help you pay for cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery procedures and costs can be overwhelming to understand. But if you take the time to do your research, youll be in the best position to receive affordable, safe, and, ultimately successful, cosmetic surgery. The Origin of Shortbread

By Ann Zuccardy The name “shortbread” comes from shortening, the primary ingredient in this dessert that was once reserved for Christmas but is now enjoyed on any and every occasion. Like many traditional desserts, shortbread has been with us for centuries. Ancient records trace this simply prepared, yet rich and satisfying sweet cookie as far back as Medeival and Elizabethan Times. In all likelihood, an early version of shortbread was first prepared by the lower class European dairy farmers of ancient times, who made butter a part of their daily consumption long before the noblemen would deem it acceptable fare. In those times, shortbread had yet to earn its name and was actually made with oat flour instead of wheat flour as it is today. Some say that Queen Elizabeth was the first to popularize the partaking of shortbread and other sweet morsels with afternoon tea. As the story goes, the Queen had a yen for tea and a light dessert one day, ordering her servants to prepare a tray that she could enjoy alone in her private sitting room. Queen Elizabeth took such a liking to this ritual that she soon began inviting guests to indulge along with her, and “afternoon tea and cookies” went on to become an English tradition. While Queen Liz may have immortalized the tea-and-cookies ritual, Scotland took credit for the shortbread recipe, hence the label “Traditional Scottish Shortbread” that’s used by so many modern-day shortbread companies. The famous shortbread recipe traveled along with the many Anglo Europeans who migrated to the States… and went on to become a New England favorite. Next time you feel like raising a tea cup to your European heritage, why not do it with a bit of authentic shortbread from the Vermont Shortbread Company. Copyright 2006 Vermont Shortbread Company. Student Loan Consolidation Rates Set to Increase on July 1

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dave_Smithy]Dave Smithy Congress voted on and passed Feb. 1 the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 that included massive cuts to federal student loan programs. The $11.9 billion in student loan cuts, including changes in laws regarding student loan consolidation, will negatively impact those students seeking a college education and others seeking to consolidate their higher interest loans. The industry expects a rush of students seeking to consolidate at the current low rates that are set to increase on July 1. The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, S. 1932, was narrowly approved Feb. 1 by the House of Representatives. Passing by a two-vote margin of 216-214, S. 1932 was signed into public law Feb. 8 by President Bush, thereby approving the $11.9 billion in student loan cuts over the next five years. Students and graduates now are in jeopardy. With college costs increasing every year and the forthcoming higher interest rates on student loan consolidation, college students are rushing to consolidate before the July 1 rate increase. Student Loans Take the Hardest Hit The cuts to federal student loans are the worst among cuts to other federal programs including Medicaid, Medicare and food stamps. A majority of the legislation’s provisions to student loans will take effect on July 1 and others will be implemented over time. Some provisions include an increase to 6.8 percent for federal Stafford Loans, from rates as low as 4.7 percent. PLUS fixed interest rates will jump to 8.5 percent, from 7.9 percent. The legislation leaves consolidation loans current fixed rate in place. Consolidate Student Loans Before July 1 Rate Increase With student loan consolidation rates set to skyrocket on July 1, now is the time for students and graduates to consolidate, according to NextStudent, the Phoenix-based education funding company. Students and graduates now are urged to consolidate as current consolidation rates can be as low as 2.75 percent with benefits applied. Other incentives to consolidate include a longer payment term, one monthly payment and no prepayment penalties. The following are other provisions affecting student loan consolidation that take effect July 1, 2006. Students and graduates should be aware of the new regulations so that they now can take action: Consolidation Loan Changes - Single holder rule is not changed. - Eliminates in-school and spousal consolidation options. - A subsequent consolidation loan may be made in the DL Program only if the FFELP borrower wishes to obtain an income contingent repayment plan and, the borrower is trying to avoid default, but that is conditioned by the requirement that such a loan has been submitted to a guaranty agency for what used to be called “preclaims assistance” but is now labeled as “default aversion.” - Also, in the Conf. Rpt. is a provision providing that only if a FFELP borrower has an application for a consolidation loan rejected by a lender or the application is rejected because the borrower wanted income-sensitive repayment terms, then the borrower can receive a direct consolidation loan. - A borrower with a defaulted loan can receive a DL consolidation loan to resolve the default. - Unless otherwise specified the terms of DL consolidation loans are the same as FFELP consolidation loans. Approval of the Deficit Reduction Act brings major cuts to student loans and a change in regulations regarding student loan consolidation. Although the legislation has changed to the detriment of those seeking a higher education, students and graduates still have the option to consolidate before the interest rate is set to increase on July 1. NextStudent believes that getting an education is the best investment you can make, and it is dedicated to helping you pursue your education dreams by making college funding as easy as possible.
